Shells and Corals
All corals that we are using are dead stony corals that have watched up on beaches and then collected by local fishermen then being sold on to us. Any shells that we use are from local sustainable pearl farms or imported from licensed exporters in New Zealand. We take extreme care to make sure that all what we use from the ocean has no negative environmental impact and is done using eco friendly methods.
Our thoughts: Abalone has a very unique and beautiful color scheme, with a green, turquoise golden look to it and a texture that blends all these colors into something very exotic looking. All the Abalone that we are using is coming from New Zealand and its all from sustainable farming methods, New Zealand has some of the worlds strictest environmental laws so we are guaranteed that its all harvested using eco friendly methods.

Our thoughts: Mother of pearl are made from pearl oysters and are the largest pearl oysters in the world. The color is shiny white with a little tinge of yellow at times though we try our best to avoid that by selecting the best part of the shell when we cut the shell. We are using the husk part of the shell that is a bi product from the cultured pearl industry and these are all from pearl farms, not from our precious oceans.

Our thoughts: We purchase our pearls from local pearl farms that are small start ups sponsored by the local government. We are happy with this option as it helps support local industry and we can be sure that these are farmed pearls and that its done in accordance to environmental regulations.
Our thoughts: These shells are actually fossilized shells from sea snails and are washed up on our beaches in abundance. The front part of the shell that we use for our jewelry is white in color with a thin black spiral going from the centre to the outside of the shell. The shells have been used to produce tribal jewelry and decorations for centuries, we are just following in these ethnic traditions.
Scientific name: Melithaea ochracea

Our thoughts: The coral we use is a resin based product and this is an eco-friendly way of selling coral as we collect dead stony coral of the beaches and use red resin to fill the spores in the coral to give it a beautiful red look. There are massive amounts of these stony coral blocks worldwide and they are in no way endangered, we would never consider to touch a live reef.
